A Purpose Beyond Profit
Why Run An Employee Giving Campaign
Studies consistently show that in today’s job market, employees are increasingly seeking employers that demonstrate social responsibility and offer meaningful work. This is especially true for Millennial and Gen Z workers, who now represent the majority of the workforce. Running an employee giving campaign with a community-focused organization like United Way can provide employees with a sense of purpose—a key factor in job satisfaction, and one of the top three reasons people change jobs. A 2023 study revealed that 44% of younger workers (Gen Z and Millennials) would be willing to take a pay cut to work for a company that aligns with their values.
"Times have changed and employees no longer want outdated corporate social responsibility initiatives and a lack of action. ...They want to work for companies [that] work to tackle the world's greatest challenges, and they want to play their part. Otherwise, they'll leave." Paul Polman, former Unilever CEO

How an Employee Giving Campaign Can Impact Your Workplace
Employee Satisfaction and Retention
With shared values and social responsibility being so important to employees, workplace giving programs are one clear way that employers can show workers and job-seekers alike that they are the right fit. And with the cost of hiring and training new employees, it's important to remember that employee giving programs have been shown to have a positive impact on employee satisfaction and retention. In fact, offering just one employee giving program has been shown to raise employee satisfaction by 12 points!* Nearly 30% of employees surveyed also say that employee giving programs were a factor in booth choosing and staying in their current position.*

Customer Loyalty
It's not only employees who want companies to make the world a better place, consumers want that too. Studies have shown for years that consumers prefer to support companies that are committed to making a positive impact on their communities, but you might be surprised by the numbers!

What are Employee Giving Campaigns?
Employee giving campaigns allow employees to easily engage with and give back to their community by making donations to United Way of Clallam County via payroll deduction. 100% of donations stay in Clallam County! Each employee chooses the amount they wish to give; some employers choose to make an employer match as part of their corporate giving or corporate social responsibility program, though this is not required.
During the multi-week fundraising campaigns, (which typically run between September and December of each year) United Way representatives present information to about the critical work United Way does in the community and the impact of the previous year's campaign. Each workplace campaign is different and can be tailored to that company's workplace culture and needs. Examples include: campaign themes, goals, challenges, events, contests, and more!
"I support United Way because I believe United Way is so closely connected to the real needs in our community and is well equipped to make a meaningful difference for those in need." -Donna Pacheco, Employee Campaign Coordinator, Olympic Medical Center
