Helping Women Access Critical Services

Women United

Here in Clallam County, Women United began with a simple but powerful idea: creating a space where women could connect, learn, grow, and support one another. What started as a local affinity and networking group quickly became something more. Since our first women-focused event, Galentine’s Day, in 2021, Women United has hosted many community-centered networking and learning events for women across Clallam County while raising more than $100,000 to support local needs. Along the way, women from all walks of life came together around shared experiences, practical learning, and a collective desire to make a difference.

Today, Women United has evolved into a passionate coalition of women committed to creating tangible, lasting impact in Clallam County. Through advocacy, volunteerism, fundraising, and community partnerships, members work together to support causes that directly affect women and families in our region.

The Women's Fund

Recognizing the collective strength of these women, in 2025, we expanded the initiative to support our broader grantmaking efforts in the form of the Women’s Fund. In response, members of Women United committed to specific fundraising and participation goals to support this newly formed fund.

The Women’s Fund launched with $40,000 in seed money from the Clallam Community Foundation. In 2026, Women United recommended that $15,000 be awarded to the Sequim Free Clinic, and $5,000 to First Step Family Support Center. These grants were approved by United Way’s Board of Directors.

During the early years of the fund, money is intentionally being held in reserve to ensure that grants continue to be available over the next few years. We trust that between fundraising by Women United members and designations by donors, the Women’s Fund will grow to be a strong and steady force for women’s needs in Clallam County.

Dessert Dash

In 2025, Women United took over the Galentine's Day Dessert Dash for the first time. The group solicited local bakers and bakeries and successfully filled the dessert table with nearly 40 mouth-watering delicacies. Attendees placed bids by table for their right to select an item, and the event raised a whopping $8,298—twice the total from the previous year! Not only was the dash thoroughly entertaining and delicious, but the proceeds were immediately placed in the Women's Fund to be used in support of critical services for women and children in Clallam County. Now that's a sweet deal!

Growth of Galentine's Day

Galentine's Day, our signature Women's United event, has grown from an intimate gathering at the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center, to our most successful fundraiser held at the largest venues in the county. As groups of powerful, generous women show up for each other and for the women and families in Clallam County who need them most, it's clear that the message of Women Supporting Women continues to resonate strongly in our community.
