A Message from CEO Christy Smith
In the spirit of transparency, connection, and community leadership, I am continuing my monthly commitment to speak directly with you about the work happening across Clallam County, the partnerships moving us forward, and the challenges and opportunities we are navigating together. Each month, I will highlight initiatives that reflect our mission, introduce collaborations that are making a difference, and share hopeful steps forward for our community. My goal is to keep you informed, inspired, and connected to the impact you help make possible.
Create Your Legacy, Make a Will
August is National Make-A-Will Month, an annual reminder that creating or updating your will is one of the most meaningful gifts you can give your loved ones—and your community. According to freewill.com, an estimated 70% of U.S. adults do not have a will, leaving many families without a clear understanding of their loved one's wishes after they are gone.
Through the Clallam Community Foundation (CCF) and United Way of Clallam County, local residents have an opportunity to create a legacy that will benefit Clallam County for generations. The Clallam Community Foundation, administered by United Way of Clallam County, helps donors establish charitable funds and planned gifts that provide permanent support for local nonprofits and our community's greatest needs.
Endowment earnings help fund programs that strengthen health, youth opportunity, and financial security throughout the county.
National Make-A-Will Month
This is a great time to start or update your estate plan. Free online planning tools, such as those offered by freewill.com, make the process easier and more accessible than ever.
A simple bequest in your will or trust, a gift of appreciated stock, retirement assets, or other planned gift, can make a lasting difference while reflecting your commitment to the causes you care about.
Every gift—large or small—helps build a stronger future for our community.
