Live United Awards

United Way is not a single program or a single moment in time. It's a community-wide effort to make sure that everyone in Clallam County has the opportunity to thrive. United Way brings people together to face challenges that no one organization can solve alone. We focus on building strong foundations through financial stability, access to healthcare, and opportunities for young people to succeed. We partner with local nonprofits, schools, businesses, and volunteers to create solutions that drive impact for our neighbors. The Live United Awards are about celebrating the people behind this work.

Financial Security: Dave's Heating & Cooling Service

Dave’s is known for their excellent customer service and dependability. But these values don’t just show up when they are serving their customers; they also show up in the way they treat the people who work for them and the community they work in. They prioritize their employees like family, support local youth sports, and consistently give back through donations and community involvement. They remind us that when a business is built on integrity, it makes a bigger impact.

Healthy Community: Soroptimist International of Sequim

This local club focuses on one powerful mission: supporting women and girls as they pursue economic empowerment. Through scholarships, mentorship, and direct support services, they help open doors that change the trajectory of lives. They lead impactful programs like Tea for SHE (Soroptimists Helping & Empowering), a free, semi-annual seminar series offering resources for mature and older adults on topics like aging in place, senior health, and safety. In addition, they maintain a medical loan closet that provides essential equipment to community members at no cost, meeting both immediate and long-term needs with dignity and care. They are a powerful example of what happens when you invest in people and believe deeply in their potential.

Youth Opportunity: Wildcat Cafe

The Wildcat Café is a unique blend of education, entrepreneurship, and hands-on learning. The commercial kitchen at the Lincoln School at the Port Angeles School District has become a living classroom where students learn about baking, business, marketing, customer service, and operations. Students get real-world experience in the cafe that prepares them for careers in our community. It is innovative, practical, and a perfect example of what youth opportunity can look like when creativity meets purpose.
