Volunteer of the Year
The Live United Volunteer of the Year Award
This award honors an individual whose consistent service, generosity, and heart for the community embodies what it means to Live United. Volunteers are the steady force behind lasting impact. They give their time, lend their voice, and show up again and again to strengthen the work of our organization.
Jaycie Osterberg
For more than five years, Jaycie Osterberg has been a dedicated supporter of United Way. She has volunteered in many different capacities and is always willing to step in when help is needed. She is a member of United Way of Clallam County's Women United Committee and made a significant impact on our 2026 Galentine's Day silent auction and dessert dash.
In addition to her work with United Way, Jaycie serves on various other nonprofit boards in Clallam County.
Board Member of the Year
The Live United Board Member of the Year Award
This award honors a board member who leads with vision, dedication, and commitment to advancing the United Way mission. Strong governance requires more than attendance. It requires advocacy, action, and a willingness to champion the cause year-round.
Kristin DeCou
Since joining the United Way Board of Directors in 2022, Kristin has gone above and beyond in her service to United Way. She was a passionate champion of Hike United for more than four years, helping to grow participation and awareness for both the event and the United Way mission. Kristin consistently helps raise funds, secure donations, and build meaningful relationships that strengthen the work of the organization throughout the year.
Business Partner of the Year
The Live United Business Partner of the Year Award
This award honors a local business that demonstrates leadership through generosity, partnership, and active engagement in the community. Business partners play a vital role in creating stability and opportunity for working families in Clallam County.
Jim's Pharmacy
Since its establishment in 1983, Jim’s Pharmacy has grown with the community it serves. As a locally grown, locally owned, and independent pharmacy, Jim’s Pharmacy matches its services to the needs of its clientele, whether for prescriptions, compounding, consultations, home health care products, or simply a thoughtful gift or card. Providing a more personal alternative to big box pharmacies is a matter of pride.
Jim's Pharmacy has 34 employees, a licensed practical nurse on staff, a diabetic educator by appointment, prescription compounding to meet specialized needs, free deliveries in Port Angeles and Sequim, a complete home health care department with wheelchairs, hospital equipment and mastectomy and compression stocking fitters, two-lane drive-up windows, a free “Vitamins for Kids” program, scholarships to local high school students and “Shop With Loyalty Shop Locally” monthly donations to nonprofit groups. It has been a leader in community fundraisers from Festival of Trees to Arts in Action. Jim’s Pharmacy was named one of two recipients of the statewide 2012 Corporations for Communities Award from the state Secretary of State’s Office. The award honors businesses for outstanding work improving their communities through fundraisers and other programs. The award made particular note of Jim’s “Vitamins for Kids” program. Families of any financial situation can get a free month’s supply of children’s vitamins once a month. The program has served about 700 children.

This award honors a workplace that fosters a culture of generosity and collective impact among its employees. When a company encourages giving and community involvement, the ripple effects extend far beyond the workplace.
Lakeside Industries
Lakeside Industries has been a long time employee giving partner, demonstrating a sustained commitment to United Way’s mission. Lakeside stepped up that commitment this year with a corporate match. In addition to supporting United Way's employee giving campaign, Lakeside supports the community in many other ways, including Food Bank drives, employee volunteer and coaching hours, and more.
Community Champion of the Year
The Live United Community Champion of the Year Award
This award honors an individual whose leadership, vision, and persistence have created meaningful change in our community. Community champions see a need and step forward. They build partnerships, open doors, and bring people together to turn bold ideas into real solutions. This year’s honoree has demonstrated exceptional commitment to expanding housing opportunity and strengthening connections across Clallam County.
Dr. Nancy Stephanz
Nancy Stephanz has been instrumental in advancing innovative housing solutions locally. She gave presentations countywide to identify partners and supporters for the Nesterly effort, building awareness and momentum for a more flexible and affordable approach to housing. Through her work, Nancy is helping local residents, workers, and students find affordable housing options. At the same time, the program enables homeowners to share their homes while earning income, building meaningful connections, and experiencing mutual support with their housemates.
Community Impact Champion
Community Impact Champion Award
This award honors an organization whose sustained service and measurable impact have strengthened the health and well-being of our community. Community impact is built through commitment, compassion, and consistency. It is the quiet, steady work of showing up year after year to meet essential needs. This year’s honoree has demonstrated extraordinary dedication to ensuring access to care for our neighbors and continues to expand opportunity for those who might otherwise go without.
Sequim Free Clinic
Sequim Free Clinic has been a cornerstone of care in Clallam County for 25 years. Since opening in 2001, they have provided nearly 27,000 free patient visits to uninsured and under-insured community members.
As the first Women United Grant Award recipient, they continue to lead with compassion, innovation, and a deep commitment to equitable access to healthcare. Their work exemplifies what it means to create lasting community impact.

Live United Award Nominees
Live United Financial Security Award
This award honors local businesses that understand financial security is about more than profit. It is about people. Thriving communities depend on employers who invest in their teams, support working families, and remain deeply connected to the places they call home. This year’s finalists represent businesses that treat employees with dignity, give back generously, and partner with nonprofits to strengthen economic stability across Clallam County. They demonstrate that when business succeeds with purpose, the whole community rises.
Dave's Heating & Cooling Service, Inc.
Dave's Heating & Cooling Service was starting in 2001 by Dave and Jeanne Oldenkamp. In June of 2024, Justin Bourm and Todd Reed took ownership and are continuing the business using the same model that Dave and Jeanne built. Dave's is proud to put their employees and families first. They also give back to the community in many ways including donations, kids sports teams, and more.
Pacific Office Equipment, Inc.
Pacific Office Equipment has run a United Way employee campaign for a long time, reliably taking part in positive change in Clallam County year after year. They are a great employer as shown by the small amount of turnover they've experienced over the years. Additionally, this local office supply and service company has proven their worth by successfully competing against Amazon, even as the online megastore continues to take out brick and mortar stores across the country.
Swain's General Store
Swain's began serving customers in 1957. Today, their goal is to have what customers want, when they want it, and at a fair price. In addition to prioritizing customer service, Swain's has incredible employee retention: half their employees have been with them for 10 - 47 years! A huge focus at Swain's is giving back to the community. In the past 66 years, Swain's has given $650,000 to community groups, charities, events, and youth activities on the North Olympic Peninsula.
Live United Healthy Community Award
This award honors service organizations that strengthen the fabric of our community through collective action, compassion, and civic leadership. Healthy communities do not happen by accident. They are built by neighbors who step forward, roll up their sleeves, and commit themselves to service. This year’s finalists are service clubs that have gone above and beyond, mobilizing volunteers, raising critical funds, and responding to local needs in ways that improve well-being for all. Together, they remind us that when people unite around a shared purpose, entire communities thrive.
Kiwanis Club of Port Angeles-Olympic
Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time. The Olympic Kiwanis Club was an offspring of the much older Port Angeles (Noon Club) and was chartered in 1975. The club is involved in the annual Kids Fishing Derby, Camp Beausite Northwest for developmentally disabled youth and adults, Downtown Port Angeles Halloween, the annual Tuna Challenge to support local Food Banks, co-sponsoring the Port Angeles High School Key Club, and supervising the parking for the KONP Home Show. They also award an annual High School scholarship. The club's major fundraiser is the E-Waste Recycling event, and they also sell Sees Candies during major holidays.
Sequim Sunrise Rotary
Sequim Sunrise Rotary works locally and internationally to improve the health and well-being of mothers and children, to educate and equip communities to stop the spread of life-threatening diseases, and to bring clean water, sanitation, and hygiene to more people every day. Their goal is to strengthen the capacity of communities both locally and internationally to support basic education and literacy, reduce gender disparity in education, and increase adult literacy. Sequim Sunrise Rotary members volunteer weekly at the Sequim Food Bank, help with the Sequim Back to School Fair, run a fundraiser for Sequim's homeless youth, donate the turkeys for the Sequim Boys & Girls Club's Community Thanksgiving dinner, and much more!
Soroptimist International of Sequim
Soroptimist International of Sequim (SIS) supports the education that will help women and girls achieve economic empowerment. SIS awards multiple scholarships each year that help women who live in Sequim or who attended or attend Sequim high school to reach their career or educational goals. Additionally, they maintain a Medical Loan Closet that provides free loans of durable medical equipment to the Sequim community.
Live United Youth Opportunity Award
This award honors organizations that are opening doors for young people in Clallam County. From early enrichment to career readiness, these partners ensure that youth have access to the education, mentorship, and hands-on experiences they need to thrive in school, in work, and in life. Together, this year’s finalists represent academic excellence, experiential learning, and real world skill development, the full spectrum of opportunity.
Prince of Peace Lutheran Church
Prince of Peace Lutheran Church has demonstrated a meaningful commitment to youth opportunity by stepping forward to support JumpStart Preschool, an early childhood program located on church property in Forks. By utilizing the church’s nonprofit status to help secure grant funding, Prince of Peace has helped expand access to early learning for families who might otherwise struggle to afford preschool. The partnership helps provide scholarships for families in need, facility improvements, and expanded programming.
Sequim Education Foundation
Sequim Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization dedicated to empowering the educational journey of students in the Sequim School District. The Foundation provides both scholarships for higher education to students, and grants to educators to enable them to implement creative and effective teaching methods that enhance the learning environment for students.
Wildcat Cafe
The Wildcat Café is the result of an effort to turn the commercial kitchen of the former North Olympic Peninsula Skills Center into an educational pathway blending academic and hands-on learning. While the Wildcat Café is a place for teaching students about food preparation, it also teaches them about the economics of food service, marketing, merchandising, customer service, and management.
