Community Bucket Dunk

The first ever United Way of Clallam County Community "Dunkin' for Dollas" Bucket Dunk was a splashing success! This type of event had previously been part of Olympic Medical Center's employee giving campaign. We're grateful to our Board Member and Olympic Medical Center's Senior Marketing Coordinator Donna Pacheco for allowing us to borrow both the apparatus and the hilarious concept!

Dunkin' for Dollas

Dunk day was one we'll never forget. Three brave dunkees arrived at the United Way office on a cold and drizzly November day. They were met by cheering supporters, hot coffee and cocoa, delicious donuts, and a bucket of water suspended over a wet folding chair. The rest is history! Thank you so much to Steve Methner, Chig Martin, and Rob DeCou for being our Dunkin' for Dollas dunkees—it was all for a good cause!!!

Raising Funds & Awareness

One of our goals for this new and unique event was to raise awareness for United Way and our work in a novel way. We kept the barrier for participation low by selling nominations and votes for only $5, and making both nominations and voting unlimited. What resulted was enthusiastic support from brand new donors, engagement with previously unknown populations, and communication across organizations.

Our list of nominees included long-time supporters as well as well known public figures who were not traditionally associated with United Way. From United Way Board and Staff members, to Impact Partner employees, Chamber Directors, public servants, even the Mayor and County Sheriff—our dunk nominees represented a broad swath of Clallam County.

This was a fun and lighthearted event but it also raised funds for hardworking folks in our community who are struggling to pay bills, put food on the table, and stay in their home, even while working one or two jobs.

A $5 donation might not seem like much, but when added to the contributions of many others in our community, it creates lasting effects in the lives of our neighbors in every community.

Thank You

We want to thank everyone who helped make Dunkin' for Dollas a success:
our donors • nominees • dunkees • Olympic Medical Center and Donna Pacheco • Women United for volunteering at the Dunk • and our generous Sponsors for donating delicious coffee, cocoa, and donuts on the day of the event.

We appreciate you all!
